The Warner Hockey School handed out it's 2012/2013 awards on Thursday, May 22. Four individual player awards along with the Volunteer of the Year were given before honouring this years graduates. The Top Forward award went to Sam Sutherland. Sam is a 2 time winner of the award and is a 4 year graduate of the program. She had a solid season scoring 31 goals in 35 games played and was a +35. The Top Defensemen went to Taryn Baumgardt. Taryn played big minutes for the team and led all defensemen with 30 assists. The player's player award (as voted on by the players) went to Captain Jessica Sibley. Sibley is a 2 year veteran of the program that is well respected by her teammates and WHS staff. The final player award, the Most Valuable Player, also went to Jessica Sibley. Jessica was a leader for the team and finished with a team leading 41 goals, 26 asssists for 67 points in 49 games played. She was a solid two-way player that was counted on in all key situations.
The Volunteer of the Year award went to Wendy Baron. Wendy has been helping with the program since it's start up and can always be counted on to lend a helping hand. There are many volunteers that help make the program what it is and this year Warner Hockey School is proud to recognize Wendy for all of her efforts.
Finally, all of the seniors were recognized for their contributions and given their Black Jersey to take with them. Forwards Nicole Blanche, Jessica Sibley, Sam Sutherland, & Jessyka Holt along with defensemen Taryn Baumgardt will all be moving on to play post-secondary hockey next season.
