U of L Game & Last Regular Season Games
February 23rd, 2015

Warriors played an exhibition game against University of Lethbridge Women's Hockey team on Wednesday February 25th at the Nicholas Sheran Arena. In the first period Warriors scored 2 goals, by Kennedy Ganser and Shae Labbe. U of L also scored two in the first period. In the second period Warriors scored another two goals, by Kennedy Ganser and Bryn Labbe. In the third period Warriors scored two more by Bryn Labbe and Shae Labbe, U of L scored their third as well, leaving the final score 6-3 for the Warriors. 

Warriors started their last JWHL Weekend in Warner, AB on Friday morning 9:00am against the Notre Dame Hounds. Girls had a good start of the game and were leading 1-0 after Kennedy Ganser's goal after the first period. In the second period Warriors couldn't the job done and Hounds scored three goals. Delaney Ross scored top shelf slapshot in the second period right off the face-off. In the third period Warriors couldn't get the game back under their control and after some mistakes Hounds scored another goal, and finished off with an empty netter after Warriors pulled Natasha Singer

Warriors learned from their morning game and started their game against Pacific Steelers in Calgary much better. In the first period the Warriors scored three goals by Shae Labbe, Delaney Ross, and another one by Delaney on the powerplay. In the second period Warriors scored two more goals on even strength by Jane Jacobs and Codie Cross. Kennedy Ganser scored one more goal in the third period, making the final score 6-0.

Warriors stayed with their billet families overnight, thank you for having the girls over again! On Saturday morning Warriors had their first game against OHA at 11am. Girls had a sticky start of the game and OHA was able to get the first goal, 9 minutes into the period. Warriors weren't able to score until little under 4 minutes left in the first period, goal by Lindsay Weech. Warriors grinded for two periods and had a lot of chances but the second period was scoreless. Only 4 minutes left in the third Beth Taylor  scored a goal finishing the game off with a score of 2-1 for the Warriors. Natasha Singer played this game in the net. After this game Warriors spot as a Regular Season Champions is secured, for the FIRST TIME EVER in the Warner Hockey School history!!

After the game Warriors headed to Warrior's assistant coaches'; Naomi Meier's house for a lunch and Mikko's birthday cake. After lunch Warriors headed back to the arena for their game against Calgary Edge. Game was very even the whole game, Warriors were not able to bring their A game, whereas the Edge played their best game of the year. Warriors got their first goal 10:30 left in the game on powerplay, scored by Bryn Labbe. Edge answered that only 24 seconds later and tied the game 1-1. 5 minutes left in the game Edge was able to score another goal and Warriors pressured Edge but just couldn't create enough chances, leaving the final score 2-1 for Edge. Morgan Lindstein played in the net. 

After the Edge game Warriors hopped on to their bus and headed back to Warner for the night. Girls played against Balmoral Hall at their home arena 9:45am Sunday morning. first period of the game was scoreless, but in the second period Kennedy Ganser succeeded on powerplay. In the third period Delaney Ross scored on even strength and Sydney Hill scored on powerplay. However, Warriors wanted to make the game interesting by giving BH chances, which they took and scored two goals. Warriors were able to finish strong and the final score of the game was 3-2. This is the end on the regular season and the Warner Hockey School is officially in first place going into the playoffs.
 
After Calgary/Warner weekend the Warriors are headed to Buffalo N.Y for playoffs (March 5th-8th), all the games in Buffalo will be live-streamed - links to the games will be provided soon.  This means once Warriors head to Buffalo they will get a bye in the first round and face the bottom seated team in the quaterfinals. Warriors will be hosting their 2015 Showcase Camp on April 6th-9th. Registration is still on! It is a great opportunity for young athletes to get a real feel of Warrior Hockey. Girls get to attend ice practices ran by the university coaches, off ice training/testing, as well as games against each others. 11 Coaches from great universities from NCAA and CIS have already registered and we are hoping for a good turnout of girls!
