Warner and the southern Alberta community can speak proudly of its past. The people who settled this area came from all parts of Europe and the world to make a better life for their families. They endured hardships, droughts, and economic downturns. Some would say they became better people for it as they were always forced to adapt to new and changing circumstances.
In 1914, Warner became the first school in Alberta to consolidate. The community displayed vision and common sense knowing consolidation would better reflect the reality of the day that one-room schoolhouses were no longer practical. It was not long before the rest of the province followed suit.
Once again Warner is doing something that most would say is crazy. A hockey program has been successfully started at Warner School to maintain and expand upon its viability. This oportunityity is a very exciting and realistic opportunity for our area to make a name for itself and for young female athletes to finally get the recognition and attention that they deserve.
